NorthbridgeEnglish Academy

About us

Twenty-five years of English teaching

An independent school with a simple belief: students learn fastest when classes are small, teachers are experienced, and progress is measured honestly.

Our story

Northbridge opened in 1998 with two classrooms and eleven students. Today we teach several hundred learners each year, from six-year-olds taking their first lesson to professionals preparing for a C2 Proficiency certificate.

What has not changed is the way we work. We keep groups small, we place students carefully, and we tell them clearly where they are and what to do next. Teachers stay with us for years, which means students are taught by people who know the school, the exams and their own classes properly.

We are an independent school, not part of a chain, and every course is written by the teachers who deliver it.

Our approach

How we teach

Every course follows the same principles, whatever the level.

Experienced teachers

Every teacher holds CELTA or an equivalent qualification, and most have taught with us for more than five years.

Small-group learning

Classes average eight students, so everyone speaks in every lesson and nobody sits quietly at the back.

Exam preparation

Dedicated Cambridge and IELTS programmes with regular mock examinations under timed conditions.

Individual attention

Termly one-to-one tutorials to review progress, set targets and agree what to work on next.

Modern learning resources

A student portal with writing practice, assignments and instant feedback between lessons.

Measurable progress

Placement testing, mid-course reviews and end-of-course reports mapped to the CEFR.
